It can be cheaper paying in full at tye time of booking and there are cheaper or discounted deals depending when you book. I have no idea. I would call the property or, better yet to get the answer in writing, email them direct. In general, Choice Hotels often offers "advanced purchase" rates which are discounted BUT you have to pay the full amount in advance, and- I think- if you cancel, you will forfeit at least some if not all of the money.
If that is the case, I wouldn't do it. You can call Choice reservations at 1 4 Choice to find out whatever your issue is about.
