Talk to Anderson and he will, quite suspiciously, tell Shepard that he shouldn't be asking about Banes. Shockingly, he will divulge that Banes is dead. He was apparently involved in a top-secret project for the Alliance and died under suspicious circumstances. If players push the issue and they should , he'll direct further questions to Admiral Kahoku.
He's to the left of the stairs that lead to the Council. Unfortunately, while he is aware of Banes' death, the crew that was sent out to find the body is missing. This leads to an official quest, but none of it has to do with Banes, though it does involve Cerberus, so perhaps they are part of the solution.
It's undeniable that there are more questions than answers when investigating Armistan Banes. The identity of the blackmailer is never revealed, either as a real or fake Banes. If he's fake, how did he get Chloe's information? If he's real, why is he blackmailing people on the Citadel?
Why was the Alliance so concerned with covering it all up? Is Cerberus connected? These are things to conder while waiting for potential answers in Mass Effect 4. As it turns out, Shepard can discover that ExoGeni is working with Cerberus. The proof lies in a terminal on Feros in the ExoGeni facility, specifically where Shepard can activate the window shutters to take out the geth ship. It requires decrypting but doing so will reveal a log from an ExoGeni employee who expresses concerns about samples of an experiment they sent to Cerberus and that they don't trust them.
An appropriately named title considering what you will find on the planet Chasca where the quest leads you. If you check out the civilian structures and the science station there, then you will find dragon's teeth surrounding them which means only one thing: husks.
Going inside these structures will reveal that its inhabitants are all husks. While Cerberus is not named throughout the quest, it does showcase how far they are willing to go in the name of science. Benezia is an asari matriarch who is also the mother of Liara and is one of the strongest asari in the series.
She was responsible for the reemergence of rachni on Noveria. It can be assumed that Cerberus received rachni from her since the rachni were extinct before a queen was hatched on Noveria. In a series of side quests taking place in the Styx Theta cluster, it is revealed that rachni have gotten loose in some listening posts Alpha and Theta in the cluster. Clearing these places out will reveal that Cerberus was experimenting on rachni in a supply ship that clearly did not go well for Cerberus.
A few years before the first game, Akuze was a human colony that had been destroyed by thresher maws. And before long, as you approach the source of the stray signal and see some signs of the Marines, the enemy in the area reveals himself. As the Thresher Maw a worm-like space creature reveals itself, things become perfectly clear. The Marine detachment sent to investigate the source of the signal has been slain, and the Thresher Maw is what stands in between you and examining the dead Marines strewn about their landing craft.
This fight might seem daunting, but it really isn't. Remember that you can fire your Mako's machinegun with the right trigger, but using the right bumper will allow you to shoot the Mako's powerful heavy artillery. This gun can only be used about once every five seconds, but it's the key to success in beating an enemy with as much health as a Thresher Maw. Don't leave your vehicle, never stop driving around so as to avoid being underneath the Thresher Maw when he comes through the ground and get as many shots off on him as you can.
Supplement your high-powered shots with incessant machinegun fire, as that will fell this creature before long, but if you keep dying, don't give up. This fight is about practice, and the Mako can admittedly be difficult to control when you're shooting simultaneously. When the Thresher Maw dies, drive towards the Marine's Mako, where you'll see some corpses lying about.
Get out of your Mako and investigate the scene until your journal tells you to head back to the Citadel, where you can speak to the Admiral and tell him what happened. You should do just that when you can, heading back to the Normandy and flying back to the Citadel. Admiral Kahoku is in the same place you found him in before, in the Citadel Tower, and you can tell him what happened however you'd like.
It won't affect the ultimate outcome of this side quest, which is now over. Mass Effect Wiki Guide. Last Edited: 4 Feb pm.
